  2. Manuscripts should be written in Italian (2 copies) and English (1 copy) according to the guidelines for scientific papers, using the Harvard style (see point 8).

  3. Articles and reviews containing new research material on suicide and aggressiveness should not exceed 3,000 words (using the Times New Roman character, pitch 10) and include a maximum of 6 tables or illustrations. Copyright of published manuscripts shall belong to the publisher.

  4. Each manuscript should comprise the title (in Italian and English), first name(s) and full family name of the author(s), their respective titles, an abstract (in Italian and English), key words in Italian and English, institutional affiliation, mailing address, telephone number and electronic mailing address.

  5. Articles should normally (but not necessarily) be divided into the following sections: Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion. Particularly long articles may require subheadings (especially in the Results and Discussion sections) to make the contents clearer

  6. Manuscripts should be typewritten or computer printed on 216 x 279 mm or ISO A4 (212 x 297 mm) white paper, on one side only, with margins of at least 25 mm. Double spacing should always be used. Pages should be numbered consecutively starting from the title page. The page number should be indicated in the (upper or lower) right-hand corner of each page.

  7. LTables should be provided on separate pages, with double spacing and numbered consecutively according to the first citation in the text. Each table should bear a short title. Descriptions and all non standard abbreviations in the tables should be given in special "notes".

    The following symbols should be used in any "notes" in the order given

    *, †, ‡, §, ||, , **, ††, ‡‡

    Authors should ensure that each table is cited in the text. Permission should be obtained to reproduce material that has already been published or from sources not subject to publication.

  8. Illustrations and figures should be professionally drawn or photographed (well-contrasted prints); hand- or typewritten characters are unacceptable. Original drawings, X-ray photographs and other material may be replaced by clear black and white, glossy photographic prints (127 x 173 mm in size but no bigger than 203 x 254 mm). Letters, numbers and symbols should be clear and large enough to be legible should reduction be required for publication. In the case of illustrations, titles and explanations should be included in the illustration legend and not in the illustration itself. Where photographs of persons are used, the person(s) in question should not be identifiable and written permission to use the photographs should be provided.

    Figures should be numbered consecutively according to the order in which they are cited in the text.

  9. Only standard abbreviations should be used. Abbreviations should be avoided in the title and in the abstract. All abbreviations must be spelt out (other than units of measure) the first time they are used in the text. Uppercase symbols and Greek letters should be identified separately. Clear distinction should be made between the letter "I", the number "1" and the word "first".

  10. Abstracts should not exceed 200 words and should clearly summarize the text, without the use of references. Between 3 and 7 key words are needed to index-link the topic of publication. An abstract and key words in English must accompany each manuscript.

  11. Generic and chemical names must be used for all compounds; products should be identifiable in the text by their generic names followed by their commercial names between inverted commas (" ")..

  12. References should be listed according to the Harvard style (e.g. Smith et al, 1970) in the text and in alphabetical order at the end of the text, for example:
    Mann JJ, Arango V: Neurobiology of suicide and attempted suicide. In: Suicide an unnecessary death". D: Wasserman (Ed.), Martin Dunitz, London, 2001.

  13. It is the responsibility of the authors to obtain written permission to reprint material from other publications and this should accompany the manuscript at the time of submission.

  14. "Studies on aggressiveness and suicide" also provides its readers with a space for "Brief Reports". These should not exceed 500 words and 10 references (in alphabetical order), and contain no tables or figures. This section will be devoted to "Case reports" and other articles containing "uncontrolled" observations.

  15. Editorial doesn't have to exceed 1000 words

  16. The "NEWSLETTER" section may include communications on member activities and information on anyone involved in the field of Suicidology.
